​HOW DOES FAT DISSOLVING WORK?

Fat dissolving uses Deoxycholic acid as the main ingredient to breakdown fat. 

 

Deoxycholic acid is injected with very fine needles directly into the unwanted submental fat deposits. The fat is broken down into a soluble form and removed by normal liver and kidney function.

 IS THIS TREATMENT SAFE?

Unlike liposuction and surgery, it is not associated with the risks of general anaesthesia or sedation, and the other complications of surgery.

​HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?

Once you have been medically cleared for your treatment, you will be numbed with a topical anaesthetic to ensure optimal comfort. Our advanced medical nurse injector will then administer a series of injections directly under the chin at each session.

​HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

​

Most patients will notice a subtle difference after 1 session however, it is best to follow the recommended number of treatments recommended by your practitioner to ensure optimal results. Most patients require 3 sessions on average spaced 6 weeks apart. Once optimal results are achieved, re-treatment is not expected.

 WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

Mild to moderate swelling is to be expected. You may experience swelling for a length of 2-3 weeks. It is best to schedule your treatment at least 3 weeks prior to any social gatherings.

 ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?

When appropriate diet and exercise are maintained the results of the procedure are permanent.

 WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

As with other injectable treatments, you may experience side effects such as: bruising, swelling and tenderness in the treated area. Because the symptoms are mild, most clients can continue their normal activities a few days after the treatment.

• Any current or past thyroid conditions

• Presence of infection in the area

• Bleeding disorder

• Allergy to deoxycholic acid

• Excess skin, scar tissue or past surgery in the sub mental area (as changes in anatomy/landmarks or the presence of scar tissue may impact the ability to safely administer and obtain a desired aesthetic result).
